Side Quest: Sims Summit Thoughts

image from i.imgur.com

I was going to make a more deep and more well-thought-out post about the Sims Summit, but I don't think it really needs all that fuss. I was going to break down how I figured out that the Summit was going to be oof, but it really all started when the Sims Offical Twitter tweeted that the Summit was going to be hosted by comedian, Phoebe Robinson, what does a comedian have to do with the Sims franchise?.......NOTHING of course! That was the first sus thing about the Summit, the next sus thing was them inviting a former BuzzFeed employee to the summit, Kelsey Impicche, who has more of a name in the Sims community for doing click baity lets plays, which is more credit than Phoebe has in the community, to be honest. EA/Maxis having a former BuzzFeed employee involved with the Summit as a selling point, still didn't bow well, but I kept my hopes high. The final nail in the coffin for my hopes was EA/Maxis inviting a tik tok dance group to the Summit (yeah I don't why either), ironically them inviting a dance to the Summit made a lot of people realize that this event might more than the standard guru Livestream.

Literally, nobody knew who this dance group was, not even some of the younger players! So, all these signs were an obvious red flag that the EA/Maxis still hasn't learned to connect with their core audience. The Summit itself was only 30 mins, it was recorded (of course), and it felt like EA/Maxis was trying to copy the direct motif/aesthetic that Nintendo uses for their game announcements, but this felt so off because Nintendo never has their host goes and on and on about their personal life disguises as poorly made cringe relatable jokes, they don't have a random dance crew nobody asked for smack dab in the middle of a direct, nor do they have a BuzzFeed person interview randos on the street about simple surface level Nintendo facts.

Side Quest: Sims 5 Wishlist/Bingo Card

Coming back on my Sims 5 Speculation BS, a lot of people say they really don't want the Sims 5 because EA needs to focus on the Sims 4, but the Sims 4 is beyond repair at this point because a lot of its problems are foundational. While EA says that they will keep supporting the sims, at least point the best they can do this make more kits and pack, and fix bugs (at least they try to). Some others believe that having another Sims game is meaningless because we already have Sims, Sims 2, Sims 3, and 4 but I think having the Sims 5 is important because it gives EA/Maxis a chance to show that they have learned from their mistakes from the Sims 4 and they can ACTUALLY make a functional sims game again. So, I think that fact only makes a Sims 5 a pretty important entry into the series.

After looking at the Sims 5 leak Reddit post one more time I saw that the leaker mentioned a logo reveal for the Sims 5 happening sometime around Fall 2021 with the official announcement for the game coming out in 2022.....

The leaker also mentions the Sims 4 not planning to stop anytime soon, which makes the leaker's info even more believable to me...

I think this is important because as I mentioned before in my previous post, The Sim's social media accounts AND website have got a complete rebranding while that might not count as a logo reveal, I think that's pretty close enough to say that it pretty much is. I've used some information from the leak to make a bingo card just for fun in Adobe Express, I kinda messed up on the card because you really can't make a clean diagonal line, but for making a vertical/horizontal bingo its pretty Gucci..

Again, these leaks are just speculation at this point, but still very convincing, plus it was just fun to make this bingo sheet and it'll be even more fun to actually use it during the stream. Even if it doesn't get filled up

Until next time, Later Days...

Side Quests: Sims Summit Speculations

On September 14th the Sims released a free kit called Desert Lux, basically, a kit filled with items that I would fit perfectly in Oasis Spring, or a choice pick if you really dig natural color scheme, the kit was made with the help of an EA game changer UrbanSims (I think. On the same day, EA announced that the Sims 4 base game was going to be free forever, basically turning Sims 4 into a free-to-play game, not only that but they also announced a special stream/program called "Behind The Sims" Summit streaming on October 18th.

The stream is supposedly going to be EA about the current development of the Sims 4 along with some new stuff they have been working on behind the scenes, A lot of Simmers have been speculating on WHAT EA could be working on. EA has been pretty quiet on the homefront since the release of High School Years back in June, many people have been mixed on the high school pack, a lot of people seemed pretty hyped when the trailer dropped and the first few weeks of the pack's release but after a while, people started to see the usual problems that seem to have been peaking through the new game pack, and kits releases as of late.

I'm gonna save my thoughts on High School Years for another post, even though that pack came and went I STILL have my opinions on it, and with the trailer, I've noticed something really funny that no one else has pointed out yet. Anyways, back to the main topic, the announcement of the Sims Summit stream got a lot of players thinking (including myself) about what the new development could be about. While some think that the summit is just going to go over the current road map for the sims and that's it, I think it may actually be an announcement (if not an official release date) for the Sims 5.

I KNOW its a big speculation but I have some proof to back this point up, back in July 2020 on The Sims Reddit, a user posted details about what could be in the next installment for the sims, The Sims 5

Side Quests: Splatoon 3 and The first Splatfest

🚨SPOILERS AHEAD🚨

You have been warned

(I think I'm going to call these type of post where I just ramble or give my first impressions on a game side quest, and just cuz it sounds really cute)

I've been playing Splatoon 3 since launch and I've been really enjoying it,  I've been a fan of Splatoon since the first one. I really love the colors, the characters, the lore, the world-building, and most of all THE TURF WARS! One thing that really stood out with this version of Splatoon is the story mode, I think this might be my favorite story mode so far next to the Octo Expansion (if you can count that as a story mode). The story mode style takes alot more from the Octo Expansion as in you get a set of recommended weapons to try out with each level and there are a ton more puzzle levels in this story...

I was hoping that the story mode would explain a little bit more of the current state of inklipos or splat-lands as a whole, but I think that stuff might be saved for dlc. The story in Splatoon 3 is that the zap fish as been stolen YET AGAIN, at first Captain Cuttlefish thinks its his old rival, DJ Ocativo (same as the last two games) but after defeating DJ Octavio its sooner revealed that he wasn't the one who stole the zap fish, it was a new enemy who soon kidnaps Cuttlefish and its now up to the squid sisters, captain (who was formerly agent 3) and new recruited agent 3 to save Cuttlefish, the zap fish, and ultimately the world!
