Repost form: Ash's Atelier: Art Log 2: Doing Stuff

This is a post originally posted on my art blog but I posted here just cuz'

oof, its been a min since I made the last log post, ALOT of stuff has happen since then but I rather talk about that on my main blog than here and when the time of the change actually comes because if I talk about it now I'm just gonna get SUPER anxious about it, here on this blog we talk about art, and sometimes coding stuff for my neocities.

In terms of art I've been making strides I guess, I finally redid bliss's model, well, I least redid her expression before I made the expression on separate faceplates that were attached to the head bone, and I thought I could just swap between the visibility between the facials, but then I realized that would be TOO MUCH MAN, so I decided to finally learn how to properly set up 2d facial expression for animations. With the help of the youtube channel, The Observatory, who makes some really go character modeling tutorials on blender, I was able to make a semi-decent facial silder thingy....

Let's totally forget about the fact I had to do this TWICE because blender didn't save all the hard work I did the FRIST time around, but we're just gonna pretend that didn't happen for the sake of my sanity. But, yeah dem expression be looking pretty bussin', I hope to make a """""GAME"""""""" similar to with michelle on neocities did with her characters where she made them a little room people could walk around and interact with objects, or just have a bunch of pretty stuff to look at like in Olivia Haines', Doll house game or her Y2k girl game on itch.io.

Speaking of games, i've been drawing up the assets for another dress up game this time featuring my own character, Yuki. I wasn't sure if the game was gonna look good at first but once I got into it, I started to really like the results....

I still don't know what I'm going do for the background, I might just make it a solid color or a fade background of a scene or just do some freakin' patterns. Idk, I don't know what to do with the background, whatever princess peachie did with the background in her dress up games since that's what I'm basing my stuff off of....

Other than making game stuff, I've been adding more stuff to my neocities, I recently decided to add a writing section becasue....why not?! I've seen other people add their wiritings and fanfictions to their site, so I decided to join in. I posted some of my daydreams from my daydream blog and people really seem to like it....

I've always been kind of shy about my wiriting (says that and has been posting fan fics and such since 2014) because of my dyslexia, I remember times where I was wirting a story in class and the teachers would always drill in and focus on the effects of my dyslexia rather than the creativity of my stories, so for the longest time I just thought I was a bad story teller and never really knew much of my creative wirting skills until after I started posting my wirtings online.....

Check it out here: Cubby Hole

I'm also pretty proud of how my Cubby Hole page came out, at first I wanted it to be more "interactive" whatever that means, but I decided to go with a fluffly cloud bear theme, with a color scheme that's more easy on the eyes and easier to read in the dark since people "hopefully" will be reading alot on this page.....

Back into blender things, I've been fidding with other models in blender, I wanted to see how well I could other models. I've been messing with around with some Mysims (a fave game from my childhood) models that I downloaded, they seem pretty simple to rig because of their shape, but there was one model that was gonna be hard to rig, the DJ Candy model, one of my fave characters. Her rig was gonna be hard because of how baggy her cargo pants are and how closely they are when she's standing. Luckliy tho' someone on DA made her model for MMD which in turn I could convert to be used in blender.

I go the idea to use sims models not just because of nostglia but because I made an isometeric room in blender, and my sister told me it look like it came from MySims so I shrugged and thought "why not do some iso scenes with my sims characters using models I made"....

So, I might make some iso-scenes with the MySims models too. I have the game on my computer, so I might use that for some.....research.... I added some expressions to the model  to in the same way I did with my bliss model since the download didn't come with any expressions, its looking pretty good so far....

In other blender news, I'm still continuing on my toy stove quest, and I've started another toy themed, strawberry themed project, where I made some strawberry tvs and they turned out pretty cute. I want to put them up from download but I also want to make a matching remote and game consloe  with controllers too...

The game console part is still in concept mode, it's still a pretty interesting idea nonethelesss....

I've also been thinking about doing a lyric comic with my daydream para/character Beau and his little sister, Carrie to the song of "We're Gonna Be Friends" by Jack Johnson. I don't have enough enegry to make an animatic, but I still want a make a thing using this concept so lyric comic it, I didn't even really know that lyric comics where a thing until I looked it up on Tumblr, and it seems to be a pretty popluar thing amongs various fandoms.....

I don't know, I think it will be a fun and cute thing to make, I really enjoy the dynamic I made between Beau and Carrie, I just love the juxtaposition of Beau being a big scary bully on the outside and just being a big kid when he's with Carrie. Anyways enough about my paras this isn't my daydream blog or my fluff blog so I'mma ends that rant there.

'nother Art kind of related thing kind of wanted to mention is I've been thinking about getting back into SFM and starting to get into GMOD, I tried doing SFM a few years ago, but then I remember I got frustrated at not understanding how SFM worked, and I think I put it on my main hard drive ( like the one that holds my OS instead of the other misc ones), I was also trying to make a long-running story-heavy comic in a program I knew little to nothing about from jump, so yeah that was a WHOLE thing.

I want to get back into doing SFM stuff because I feel like I didn't give myself a fair chance to learn how to use it right, I was being really unfair to myself expecting to know how to make a proper comic in such a short time with such little knowledge about the program, and I want to get GMOD for  render making purpose and also to just messing around in because it looks like fun.

I think I MAY try to keep SFM just for video game renders, there are some models that do look better in MMD tho' like the Square Enix models, but for stuff like Splatoon ( that looks good in either tbh),  SFM/GMOD just has alot more of the props from Splatoon and the backgrounds from the game to and that goes for alot of games assets that give brought into GMOD....so yeah.

That's about all the stuff I wanted to talk about, for now, see you in two months' time where I talk about whatever art stuff I been up to...
